Looking for a distraction from that grueling 10-mile run? We’ve all been there. When the upbeat music in your playlist is no longer moving you, why not turn to a podcast that speaks directly to what you’re going through? Podcasts for runners are all about motivation and inspiration and they’ll get you through the last leg of your run.

Since there are countless podcasts out there, we’ve narrowed down to a list of our favorite five. Take a listen…then let us know your podcast picks!

  1. Runner Academy Podcast: With over 1.7 million downloads, Runner Academy is one of the best. Get inspiration from the biggest names in the running industry, like elite athletes, coaches, authors and researchers. The podcast utilizes inspirational stories, tips and training advice to get you pumped no matter your current ability.

Each episode includes timely training news, a lesson or expert interview and closes with a quick ‘action’ tip you can use while on your run. One of their episodes is the perfect addition to your next workout session – so what are you waiting for? Get to downloading.

  1. The Connect Run Club podcast: The Connect Run Club infuses running tips with race coverage, and motivation in the hopes of improving your running performance and achieving your marathon goals. If you’re a beginner, then this podcast is for you because you get to hear from certified coaches, top-notch runners but also from everyday runners, like yourself.

We love this podcast because the Connect Run Club launches running clubs throughout the country for people that are passionate about community as well as running. As a runner, you form relationships with those you run marathons with or just runners in your neighborhood. This industry is so close-knit, it’s only natural that we form communities/friendships everywhere we run.

  1. Another Mother Runner: This podcast is great for the busy mom who enjoys a great run. Another mother runner explores the intersection of running and mothering; topics range from training, nutrition, motivation, mental toughness and TMI issues. Host, Sarah Bowen Shea, a mom of three and veteran of a dozen marathons, invites a wide variety of co-hosts and often, a guest expert.

This witty, conversational podcast, run by the authors of ‘Run Like A Mother: How To Get Moving And Not Lose Your Family, Job, Or Sanity’ is the best running partner. You won’t find just like it.

  1. Runner’s Connect: A podcast with the mission to “change the way you approach your running and training.” Runner’s Connect utilizes in-depth interviews to introduce listeners to the doers and thinkers in the running world, whose training concepts, depth of knowledge, and stories are so powerful that they provoke change.

The one-of-a-kind show presents its listeners with a mix of smart, energetic and talented athletes who are willing to share their expertise and experiences. Listeners are given the opportunity to submit questions to featured running experts on the show via Facebook and Twitter to get real-time answers.

  1. Embrace Running: The hosts of Embrace Running cover topics like gear, nutrition, training and race reports. Listeners get up-to-date running news and also get to tag along with the hosts as they train for their next marathon. This weekly podcast is great because you get all the helpful tips from runners who are still in the game and love every aspect of the sport of running.
